Dissociated States

Dissociated States is a two-act drama, with a cast of five men and two women (with much doubling of characters).

The play is 80 pages long. The link at the right will allow you to view an excerpt from the beginning of the play.

Playwright’s Note:
This play looks at dissociative disorder, and its structure and tone parallel the symptomology: Jolts of emotion are dropped into the narrative without the customary or "normal" build-up, and are frequently jettisoned equally as abruptly; emotional climaxes are interrupted or left half-resolved; sentiment is often avoided in favor of detachment or avoidance. It is advised that serious thought be given before efforts are made to directorially "smooth over" these apparent rough spots.
