A Recovering Dance-Aholic
Dance-Aholics was the name of the dance group I founded in college, that continued out into the "real world."

Real World

This was the early '80s, and we worked at Chippendale's a lot, on their non-male-stripper nights.
Other Choreography
I did some experimental stuff when I lived in New York.
I'm talking about dance experimenting, okay?
.
I also choreographed a production of Gypsy in L.A. Remind me to tell you about the stripper number sometime.
Forthcoming: Father Figures
I have written a dance/theater play, a full half of which is told through 14 dance numbers. Once it has
found its "home" for workshopping, I am very excited to begin choreographing the dances. Click here
to read more about this project, and see the script.
A Chorus Line
I didn't choreograph it, but I did dance in it several times. Once in Spanish. In Spain. Remind me to tell you
about that after we're done talking about the Gypsy strippers.

And this following one was my dream company (at Sacramento Music Circus),
choreographed by the wonderful Jimmy Roddy.

Okay, I feel impelled to explain this picture, taken (to humor me) during some offstage time. Y'see, my dressing room mate, Corey, was taking a nap on the floor in costume, and he looked (to me) just like Baby John from West Side Story. And there's a scene in that show where the Jets take the fiery Anita and (in a very dance-y way) throw her down on top of Baby John in a rape-y way. I even think the musical cue in the score is called "The Rape of Anita."
So I get my pal Delyse (who's playing Val in Chorus Line) to "be" Anita for my little impromptu theatrical event, and Joe (who was Al) and David (who was Zach, and is mugging shamelessly for the camera) to play the two Jets who lower "Anita" down onto "Baby John." Corey was fast asleep until the moment I called "action" and they all went into character, which is when I caught the shot. (Corey hadn't been briefed beforehand, so he wasn't in character as "Baby John," but rather as "guy with a sense of humor who has gotten used to Scott's bright ideas.")
